ASU Baseball Tops Polls At No. 3 By Baseball America And Baseball Weekly

TEMPE, Ariz. -- With a 13-2 record, the No. 3 Arizona State University baseball team will host one of the premier match-ups in college baseball this season, taking on No. 2 and defending national champion LSU this weekend in a three-game series at Packard Stadium.

The Sun Devils went 1-0 last weekend, beating then No. 18 Cal State Fullerton 5-3 in a come-from-behind victory Friday night at Goodwin Field. The other two games of the planned three-game series were rained out. The Sun Devils are ranked third in the most recent Baseball America and Baseball Weekly polls. The Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches Top 25 poll also had ASU with two first-place votes. ASU was listed sixth by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper in its recent top 30 poll.

Leading the way for the Sun Devils is senior All-American catcher Casey Myers. Myers is hitting a team-leading .453 with 29 hits, six doubles, two home runs and 28 RBI. Starting pitchers Jon Switzer (3-0, 1.78), Andy Torres (5-0, 3.00) and Ryan Schroyer (2-1, 2.77) are expected to take to the mound this weekend vs. LSU.
