Sun Devils check in as high as No. 4 in the weekly national college baseball polls.

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Riding an eight-game win streak and a four-game sweep of the Duke Blue Devils, the Arizona State Sun Devil baseball team has moved up in the national polls. ASU, who was ranked as the preseason No. 6 team in the country by all three polls, now has rankings No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6.
The Sun Devils topped the polls at No. 4, including one first-place vote, in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Top 25 College Coaches Poll. ASU moved up from No. 6 to fifth in the weekly Baseball America poll and remained the same in the Collegiate Baseball poll. All three polls have a different team ranked No. 1, with Georgia Tech (Baseball America), Rice (Collegiate Baseball) and Pac-10 rival USC (Baseball Weekly/ESPN).
After losing their season opener to Texas-Arlington, the Sun Devils have rattled off eight straight wins, outscoring their opponents by a margin of 85-26. The team is hitting a combined .377 and the pitching staff has been stellar with a 3.00 staff ERA.
Arizona State will play five games this week, starting with a 5 p.m. contest Tuesday night against New Mexico State (9-1). The Sun Devils will then host 200 NCAA regional participant Creighton for three games starting Friday at 7 p.m. ASU will make-up one of the rainouts to Texas-Arlington Saturday night with 5:30 p.m. game against St. Mary's.
